There are many facts about wine out there. Truthfully there are alot of fun wine facts. I am sure I could write a new fact about wine every day. While I am building this site out, I will put one fact about wine up a month. January '08 - Wine Fact 1

- American Wines are named after the grape that is harvested, while many European wines are named after the region they are from.

- red wine is not red because the grapes are red. When fermenting the grapes the skins are left in, giving the wine its red color.

- There is a jar at the University of Penn Museum, that is 7000 years old that has proof wine was held in it. Dating Wine 2000 older than originally thought.

- White wine ages faster than red wine because of the tannins that reside in the skin. Since less skin is used in produces white wine vs. red wine it can age faster.
