Types of Wine

White Wine

White wines are a lighter color because the skins are removed before the frementing process, otherwise known as maceration. Also white wines use the white and green grapes.

Although white wines are not my favorites, I do prefer a nice white wine on a hot summer day. White wines are usually more popular in groups or outings because most people have not built up their palet to enjoy wines beyond the sweet and fruity. My favorite white wine is a Savignon Blanc.

Favorite Whites:

Rodney Strong Chardonnay

A little less than half of the wine was barrel fermented in order to add brown spice and vanilla. The other half was cold fermented to increase fruity flavor. Below is a description from their website...

"Bright lemon and apple aromas mingle with hints of toasty barrel complexity, and on the palate, pear and pineapple with spice and refreshing acidity will have you coming back for another glass."

Menage a Trois

This wine gets its name from the fact that it has three grape varieties. The thre grapes are Chardonnay, Muscat, and Chenin Blanc. Each variety is individually harvested, gently crushed, and cold fermented in small stainless tanks. The description below is from the website...

"The Chardonnay is rich and firm, the Muscat is wild and exotic, and the Chenin is soft and supportive"
